Location
The Lakota Native American tribes were a spread out tribe. Occupying parts of Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska. Mainly west of the Missouri river.

Name Meaning And Description
The Native American people are Sioux or have called themselves the Lakota, or Dakota meaning "friends, allies". Sioux is French misspelling of the Ojibwa word Nadewisou which means snake.

Culture
Lakota have plenty of Pow-wows, some are to certain animals such as the bear, wolf, or deer, others to their Great Spirit.


Important People
There are many important people of the Lakota tribes. Perhaps the most important, is Crazy Horse.
Crazy Horse is known for his great leadership and honor in battle. He even has his own monument. He died in 1877 by a bayonet. Another important person is Sitting Bull. Sitting Bull was the principal chief of the Dakota tribe, but was also a semi-member of the Lakota tribe. He took on many white armies with his own armies. Weapons
The Lakota tribes liked the club, bow, arrow, and coup stick. But they rarely used the buffalo hide shield.

Art
Lakota Native Americans liked to do a lot of bead work with their art. They made necklaces, earrings, hair clips, and many other things. They were expressing things about mother nature, their tribe, and other expressions.
